Chris Lumme
I’m a Director and Accredited Specialist Criminal Lawyer at Lumme & Associates. Since my admission in 2014, I’ve focused on criminal defence, handling everything from appeals and murder prosecutions to high-level drug trafficking and RSPCA-led prosecutions.
My work is driven by a deep passion for the law—one that started when I was just five years old, telling anyone who’d listen that I was going to be a criminal defence lawyer. I have a strong interest in animal law, particularly cases involving animal cruelty prosecutions and Regulated Dog notices—whether for dangerous or menacing dogs—issued by local councils. Pets are more than just animals; they’re family, and I’ve built a reputation for challenging restrictive council decisions that unfairly impact responsible pet owners.
In 2022, I was honoured to be named one of Queensland’s top criminal lawyers—one of only two individual solicitors listed on the Sunshine Coast. While my work demands precision and strategy, I approach every case with a level-headed, down-to-earth mindset—one that’s earned me results in the courtroom and, occasionally, a ‘Mike Ross’ comparison (minus the fake law degree, but definitely with the side bag).
Outside of work, you’ll find me on the golf course, at the beach with my family, or reliving my youth at a Blink-182 concert. I appreciate a cold pale ale—bonus points if it’s our own Lumme & Associates brew—and I have a deep appreciation for art (even if my skills are limited to hanging it on my office walls).
I believe in making the most of life—seeking adventure, embracing challenges, and bringing that same energy to everything I do, whether it’s defending a client, tracking down the best meal in town, or perfecting my golf swing (jury’s still out on that last one).
You can read about one of the more high-profile decisions I was involved in here. This case is now the leading authority for the proposition that a destruction order must be regarded as an option of last resort. View Case
